I'd like to ask why mirror didn't look right to you?

It always looked like it was hung a bit too high to me and I never could figure out what to put on the credenza to balance it out. I don’t hate the mirror above it, I just cant figure out how else to fill the space.

i think a colorful piece of art would look better. a mirror needs to reflect something interesting.

Art would be ideal. Art is very personal but I liked the colors and look of this one. Add white orchid and gold nest bowl for a polished look.

Would a gallery wall with 3 or 4 pictures look good or just one big picture?

It’s just the proportions in general are off In the space. It’s the perfect spot for a gallery wall and once console is accessorized (include a lamp) it should feel balanced and also more interesting, personal. Frames are inexpensive at IKEA and come in different sizes. You can buy Bristol board at a craft store and cut to size, including the size for picture used. Just finished helping my daughter in law and it’s not hard and is inexpensive.

You could add a large interesting lamp and an orchid with the mirror to start, maybe some books, statue, it just needs some color and texture, you have a great starting point

A large painting is more dramatic, but a gallery can work. Easier and probably less total cost to do large painting. Plus that console looks pretty large, so you would need a large gallery grouping to fill space above that piece. Beautiful chest/console btw.

Have you considered adding a pair of vertical items to it (one on each side ) rather than removing/replacing it?

Thank you for all of the ideas! I found this piece of art today & I also taped out a gallery wall above the console table. I have 3-4 wedding photos that are all in the same landscape with fall color leaves that I was thinking for the gallery but I don’t know if I like what I taped out. I do like this piece of art here but I also like it in my bedroom. Ugh! What do you think?

the gallery needs to be larger. those 4 are too small.

see how they grouped these? your console is a bit wider than this one, so you could do a few more. notice the groupings on top too.

I struggle with gallery walls. I’ve tried putting them in a few different areas and I can never get it to look right so I go with one or two larger pieces. It seems like that’ll be best for this area too. I really like the art here but I think I’m going to end up hanging it in my bedroom instead. So I’ll have to find another piece. Do you think this size is good or should be bigger/smaller?

depends what else you use on the console. go back up and look at the picture w/the two lamps. if you do that, the size you have will be fine. (or if you flank the picture w/two taller items, not necessarily lamps)

if you just want to do an orchid or vase, and decorative books or whatever, then I'd prob pick something a tad wider. height is good tho

The art is pretty but not wide enough. You could add width by adding a couple candle wall sconces. Something like this.

Add timer flicker candles. They come on when you set them and usually are on for 6 hours or so. That would be very welcoming in the evening.

Like the beach sunrise/sunset art -- likely work well in most rooms.

Suggestion to place items on console was good... if lots of white trim...light airy look - lamp like this? but still contemporary like console?

Where is that hallway?

Is it the hallway outside the bedrooms? If so, that is a great place for family photos.
