If it is in a nice pot now I would just keep it cool till it is cold outside then plant it in it permanent position.

Plant it in its permanent spot now. Poms are deciduous and it will not hurt it to plant into the ground now. They are fine unless the temps drop into the low teens. It’ll go crazy with the spring warmth.

With temps like that forecast, I'd go ahead and plant now!! Those temps more closely resemble late spring/early summer in my area, rather than December, and I plant whenever and whatever (other than annuals) I want in winter.

Since my tree is already dormant and in a pot I guess I will keep it in a shaded spot and hope it doesn't leaf out in the next 2 weeks till the temps drop below 60 degrees then I will plant it. If it leafs out I will pot it in a larger pot and keep it inside home till March.

If I plant it now the spring like weather were having might make it leaf out and then in 2 weeks when we go into winter the freezing temp will kill the leaves I'm guessing? This can't be good for the tree?

It would help to know where you live. If poms are commonly planted in your region and you are in a mild zone (8 -10), I would plant it. It is already dormant. Cool to cold nights should keep it dormant.

If you keep it inside, it will come out of dormancy sooner than you'd like. But again, it would really help to know where you live.

I'd plant it now, the only time I've had to "heel-in" a new tree is when I had no time to plant it right away. The daylight hours are now at their minimum so the tree leafing out during this time due to warm temps is remote.

I agree with both Dave and vgkg - there is no valid reason NOT to plant now. I'm in a similar zone (but very different climate). Your temps outside are not nearly warm enough to encourage it to break dormancy now but keeping it indoors certainly could.

I agree. Plant it. Even tho' you have some cold nights the ground will still be warm enought for it to start putting out roots. If you keep it for a week or two you are asking for mold.
