Bold front door on historic home?

I am wanting to go bold on the front door of my 1904 home, which is painted in historic colors. Will this diminish the regal, elegant character of the house?

On the front door can be seen three colors I am sampling/considering.

Beautiful House!!!! I could see a medium to dark green for the front door. Love those columns!

Have a look at the above website.

You may possibly be surprised at some of the historical colour,,,

Any of the colors you are considering would look great, IMO.

Thanks to you folks for your comments. We love the house, and feel very fortunate to live in it. I guess that is why I am somewhat timid about changing anything.

I actually like the color you currently have. If you’re looking for change have you considered adding a brass kick plate and new hardware to draw the eye to the door?

I had not considered that, thank you !

Mind if I ask what colors you used...they look really nice.

    Gorgeous home!

I found some painted front doors to put over yours for visuals ... first three are similar to your samples:

Just for fun, a few others:

That is wonderful! Thanks very much.

Some of the colors take away from the house, I think, but, surprisingly, I think the orange, actually looks really nice. It seems to fit your house nicely.

Anna, they are all Benjamin Moore. The orange-red is called Claret Rose, 2008-20. The blue is Wild Blueberry, GE-115. These two are in the BM Grand Entrances
The light blue/green is called Anderson Blue, CW-565, from the colonial
    Williamsburg collection.

Already looking gorgeous! I will not recommend changing the door color at all!

Ann sorry I wasn’t more clear. I actually meant what colors do you currently have on you house now...not the possible new door colors.

I really like your current color scheme that you have on your home. As I said I wouldn’t change the door color but maybe do the same color in gloss with the kick plate

Ok- I understand. I will look for that info and post. They are all in Benjamin Moore historic colors.

Anna- the exterior paint colors on my house are BM Historic Colors:

    Siding HC-93

Front Door and window sash HC-133

    Trim Moorglo 096-01

Thanks Ann. We’re in a 247 year old house and I’m always on the lookout for nice colors I think will work on my home.

    Your house is beautiful.
