My garage potted daylilies :-)

I am amazed how some are continuing to thrive. I have them sitting at the back of the garage by the two windows that face south. A couple died back so hopefully they are not dead. A couple of pots are duplicate plantings since when I dug them out, they were too big for just one pot.

Awaiting the winter storm that is suppose to start later this evening into early Thursday. Temps have drastically dropped. Still packing and destasing. Our new home is suppose to be completed and close March 1. I can't believe it is just over 2 months away. Our current home is suppose to close next week. The "to do" list keeps growing.

I've been viewing the postings. So much eye candy. When its time for me to start planning out new gardens, I will definitely be revisiting these posts.

They should do well, Julia. I often have plants in pots out over the winter and they do at least as well as the in ground ones. I know you are looking forward to being settle again and a new home should be fun.

How many total did you put in pots? How big is your new property?

They are looking good! The ones that have lost most leaves just look like normal winter die back to me. Best wishes for your move! I know you'll be very busy for awhile.

Brad: Our new property is a blank canvas of 3 acres.Just enough to keep us happy. From aerial footage it looks like it has been mostly open field. House sits almost center.We will need to look at putting in some trees since the property only has trees along the property line at the very back and along one side.

There are 11 in the pots. I know I will need more daylilies plus other perennials once I start gardening again.

Kay and Debra: I do hope the daylilies will survive okay. I've not potted before so a new experience for me.

I agree-the plants do really look good! And a blank canvas should be fun. How did you ever cull your list to just 11? Lol on that question as I don’t know how I could ever do that!!

Like Kate, I don't think I could ever cull to 11! I keep saying I am down sizing, but somehow they just keep adding up!

As a pot person myself, I'd say they are looking fine. Just watch the water. What direction does your window face that is giving light to your daylilies?.............. You've got a fun adventure in front of you this spring planning and buying new plants, as well as moving and decorating the new house. Best to you on those projects.....We just got 6 inches of snow a few days ago. Still cold here too, so it's hanging around. I hope this is it for the year on the snow...................Maryl

Thank you all for the well wishes on our upcoming move.

I didn't really cull. I rushed to dig, wash and repot and thought I'd have more time to dig more but things don't always go as planned. My bad. I need to wait for them to bloom next year to make sure my hubby did not play a trick on me with the tags.

We got a high of 10 inches of snow in most areas of the yard. I think we may have had some wind drifting. What a crazy storm as north of us got minimal and south of us got feet of snow.

Once we get settled in our new place, I'll post and let you know where our new "gardening zone" is. Merry Christmas to all of you and best wishes in the New Year.
