Cheaper to take a parenting and housekeeping class : )

Honestly, it got a bad rap, but Thermofoil is fairly indestructible. You have to WORK at it to blemish a finish. They stand up to repetitive wiping and cleaning, can be had matte or glossy , come in a million colors including black .

Other than metal and thermofoil, there is NOTHING that is bullet and abuse PROOF. - other than open steel industrial shelving; ......NO DOORS or drawers

I have high glooss white cabinets from Ikea I run a catering biz from my home the cabinets are 13 yrs old not one ding , scratch or issue they are afinish that is not really thermafoil but similar. I also have some stainless cabinets from Ikea . There are often 6 people working in my kitchen and grandkids visit often. I am not sure what your reasoning is behind your question so maybe share a bit more info. BTW metal cabinets from the 50s were pretty bullet proof but chipped . Honestly there really is no such thing as bullet proof.

Best I can think of is to get flat panel doors that are covered in a thick laminate(not post form grade laminate). It would be expensive but definitly durable

laminate

melamine

Melamine or Thermofoil.

This company has stores all over the country that can provide you with kitchen everything.

IKEA has two slab door styles that are made from recycled plastic bottles. Black and a gray green are the two color choices.

Thermofoil is a good choice, just stay away from white. It tends to yellow over time.

However, I would probably find a local or regional cabinetmaker that makes cabinets for hospitals. They require heavy duty cabinets that are very sanitary and can take a lot of abuse.

Most are covered inside an out with a high density laminate (think Formica®). Very hard to damage.

Laminate I think would be best. You have to go pretty thick with metal to make it ding proof.

Where's that photo of the quilted naugahyde cabinets when we need it?

Corian fits the bill perfectly.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC

Corian? How would that work?

The thinnest Corian is what, 6mm (about 1/4")? You would end up with 1-1/4" doors cabinet fronts and 3/4" or 1" sides. To get a standard 3/4" door you would have to reduce the substrate to 1/4" thick. Would that hold a hinge?

Have you ever done this?

3/4” Corian is done all the time for marine cabinetry in luxury yachts. It works with standard tools, and machines up just fine. Its just heavy. Theres not a big market for it outside the yacht scene. Too expensive and specialized.
