Funny, I just removed "beams" like that from my house. They were full length, almost 14 feet long. Tough to buy boards like that for a reasonable price. Did your contractor use plywood and miter the edges?

It’s actually White Oak and the edges are mitered and hand distressed so there is no visible seam or any kind. It’s the sides that look like that :/

Can't tell what the total length is, but it might be hard to find white oak over 10 feet, maybe 12. Still, they should have told you ahead of time what to expect. You could have changed plans. I just bought vertical grain Douglas Fir 1x6 in 16 ft. lengths.

Any fix? We just did beams and they turned out the same way and I didn’t know that was a question to ask and now not sure if there is really any remedy?

Same problem for me. I thought if the cuts were staggered, it would eliminate that problem, but it did not.

Hard to get white oak over 12'. Max I have seen is 14'. I just built 20 faux beams for our house and worked with my lumber yard for weeks to get the width and best lengths we could.
