Eating as opposed to what exactly ? For cleaning with, or making Potpourri with, or? Not sure I understand how else you'd use a lemon.

For eating, whichever is your favorite flavor, I would imagine. How many lemons have you tried and how do you typically use them? Juicing and lemonade? For cooking? For marinade? Flavoring in pies and cakes? Eating straight out-of-hand?

I've not tried all the lemons out there, but I'm pretty happy with the basic grocery store Eureka flavor. I do grow Meyers, but don't like them near as well. I used to grow Ponderosa, but can't recall it was any better than Eureka. I have not tried any of the Italian ones. Nor have I tried Harvey or Bearss.

My vote is a good ripe eureka lemon.

Some do not think meyers are true lemons but I really like them. Also I prefer the Lisbon over the Eureka and I was raised on the Eureka's. But like anything else taste is very subjective with any citrus. Some prefer tart over sweet, others sweet over tart while others enjoy a good blend of both. Different strokes for different folks.

What’s wrong with eating mandarins, you don’t have to make faces. My wife buy bags of lemons and end up throwing half away. Why growing them, maybe one tree, just for the hell of it. Got one Santa Teresa, plenty good.
