Is there a privacy issue that you need anything? This is my view, from my living room out my back door. It would never occur to me to cover it with anything.

The tv so close is a challenge for drapes.

Sorry for the highjack, but to @Carrie B - what is that little opening at the bottom of your brown door? It looks like a cute little mouse hole, but could it be for kitties? I'm intrigued! (And I love your sign!)

I've got a set of sliders out to my deck. Middle door slides and I put drapes on it. I just think windows/doors look incomplete without window dressings (unless you've got beautiful millwork). Looks like the TV is on an adjustable arm. Drapes would work.

we are out in the country, nothing but cornfields and woods.. its a new build and I'm unsure if drapes or the norman smart shade would be best? that shade cost $2500 so I would have to love it. I can get one large or 2 separate so thwy would hang on each side when open... I feel like it's very unfinished and in the day that sun is killer in the afternoon before sunset. and in the summer it is very warm. it heats that room too much so I know I need something

I have a 8x16 center open slider and am definitely going to get the smart drapes. Didn’t think I would like them until I watched the video of people going through them as they go in and out from the backyard. I’m going to do the light filtering ones but they also have blackout available. I’m so excited to try these as it’s going to be quite nice when we have a evening party with the slider open but will have the option to have the drapes closed so there is less of a chance of bugs or insects coming through. I just think they look cool as they sway when you walk through them.

I submitted a comment, but didn't post. so I will try again. I did order the Smart Drapes. They should be here in 2 wks. I ordered the platinum color. I really didn't want a vertical blind either, but they way the move I liked after watching the video also. We chose to go with 2 so they close to the middle and open to each end...or it would have been so much fabric and weight tailed at one end. We have had vertical blinds before in our old home but wasn't a fan of them, the dog broke them. One neat thing about the smart drapes they are flexible and you can pull them down to wash them. I will post a picture when they come in. For the price I hope I love them!

Please do! We will also do the close to the middle option. Our house won’t be done until mid March but will be placing my order for these and other shades within next few weeks. We have kids and dogs so I’m fairly excited about the washing option (I read about that)! I think we will go with the charcoal. What fabric option did you choose?

@Carrie B aren't you afraid that some psycho could be standing right there staring at you and you wouldn't know (can you tell I read too many thriller books lol)?

@Salina - oh my! No, I'm not afraid of psychos hopping my 6' fence so that they can stare at a this middle aged cat lady while she goes about her evening dinner eating and sofa sitting. Imagine if that were enough to give psychos a thrill? As a matter of fact, the window over my kitchen sink does not have a window covering, and neither does my living room bay window.

However (you'll be happy to hear) my dressing room, bedrooms and bathrooms do all have window coverings.

@Carrie B you are definitley a braver woman than I lol! I have a wild imagination, I'm actually looking to see what the cost of window coverings are before I put too many windows in our new family room lol.

Alkollmann54 that looks great! I’ll be placing my order next week for the black ones with the pacific fabric.

We have a large 16 foot slider and no window coverings on it. Our backyard opens onto a creek and trees. Nothing to see. I love it wide open.

darn when your home is done I would love to see what the dark look like, if you can remember.
March will be here before you know it
