Maybe scroll through the settings and see if it’s set to open at the end of the cycle or cycles you use?

Thanks for that suggestion. I did try that. The sad thing is that it sometimes opens and sometimes doesn't on the same cycle :-(

Is the door spring that controls easy positioning of the door set to be too strong? The door shouldn't fall to the floor, but it shouldn't pull toward closed position either.

Kaseki, I don't think so. The issue that I am facing is that the door is supposed to auto open to let the steam out. It is supposed to open just a bit, and be held by a plastic tab. To open the door fully, you push the door closed, that causes the tab to release and then one can open the door fully. The plastic tab mechanism only works intermittently

kasei may be correct. See page 28 of the Installation Instructions to adjust the door spring tension.

Are you sure your correct in that you push close and then open?

I have a 6635 and that you pull the door open fully open to both release the latch and to have it go back in and recharge so to speak. The latch is mekanical not motorrised.

@linus2003 Your comments are spot on. I was pushing and not pulling, so may have bent the latch a little. It is rather counter intuitive - it looks like you should push, expecially as there is some resistance when pulling. The manual is, unfortunately, not much help.

@Joe Hilferty I will do that, thank you. I think it is possible that I have damaged the little tongue by pushing instead of pulling.

@Christopher Bird Hi, curious after you start opening it correctly by pulling the door open, have the DW starts doing the auto open again? I have the same problem with my 6 years old DW. I used to open it correctly until my DH told me that I would "break" the latch and I should push in then open, well, we now know it was the other way around! Mine is also intermittently not doing the auto open, we will now start opening it the correct way but wonder would it make the problem go away or do we eventually have to replace that parts?

I have replaced the part twice that opens the door. It is a flaw of the Miele, an expensive flaw.

@torachan oh no! How long have you had your dishwasher? Do you always open it by pulling the door open or do you push to open (apparently the wrong way)?

Hello, just wondering if the dishwasher cycle is still going on after the autofoor opening

( i .e fanrotating to help drying).It says there is about 1.40 hrs left after the door opens and if we open the dishwasher , are we interrupting that?

Same thing happened to my 5-yr old 2018 Miele G6785SCViSF — door no longer automatically opens but everything else works. Does anyone know how this affects the overall dishwasher — does this need to be repaired?

It didn’t affect the overall function other than some dishes weren’t dry. After I found out my husband “taught” me the wrong way of opening the door, we have been opening it the correct way and it seems to have resolved the problem itself (knock on wood)! Good luck!
