Exterior walls in an old house

Hello, I own a home in Denver, built in 1947. We needed to have power ran to an area of one of our bedrooms that has two exterior walls and found out that our exterior walls are completely solid, so power cannot be ran though them. We figured out the power situation, but now I am trying to understand these walls better and how to live with them. Can someone enlighten me on the material of these walls? I know the outside is brick, but what is between the brick and the paint? Thoughts about hanging items on these walls?

Its likely the wall is a "brick veneer cavity wall" and the structural "back-up" wall is probably either hollow CMU (concrete masonry units, aka concrete block), hollow clay tile or another wythe of brick.

The interior finish is probably plaster on the masonry.

Take some exterior photos of the window & door openings especially at the window head showing the lintels.

Measure the full thickness of the wall at a door.
