Not really enough space for stools there so relax.The stove right next to the wall is a much bigger issue. You could always have a tiny stool to perch on for a cup of coffee or a friend to talk to you while you are cooking.

Looks so pretty. Really like what you picked out. It’s too tight to have seating there. But as stated above I would get a stool similar to the wall art. Like a deep wood and put it there

By stool I mean a small stool. Not an island big chair stool

Have very seldom seen this treatment before. Am not sure if I am a fan of it or not. If it's going to cause a problem with your spouse I'm thinking I would live with it for a while at least to see if you can get use to it.

It looks fine. You need the room to swing out the doors. If someone wants to keep you company while you cook, putting a stool there would be okay. But an overhang? Not needed. Leave it alone and save your marriage.

This might not be the ideal design and that is OK. Yes, you could have spent quite a few dollars with a designer and ended up with an overhang but you didn't and that is OK. The project is over and the opportunity to make the choices is gone. The result looks fine and usable. The only good reason for revisiting the choices made is when you consider another project. Then you may think about what you will do differently in the next adventure.

No one always makes the best choice each and every time a decision is needed. You aren't special, you are normal. Given that you have a nice looking, finished project and both you and your husband lived through it, you obviously made some good decisions.

I agree with Red Ryder. You need room to open the doors. A small stool there so someone can sit and talk to you is fine.

If you're thinking "bar" seating for one or two people, then, space permitting, consider adding a hinged drop leaf to the end of the cabinet for a "bar" at a height so you can use your dining chairs rather than have a stool sitting in the way when not in use.

There are different sizes/prices of drop leaf units if your budget doesn't include a custom built piece -- or, if you are DIY inclined, make sure the hinge/hardware is strong enough for its intended use.

I had an overhang with cabinets underneath in my kitchen peninsula. It was a hassle to duck under to get things out of them as someone else said. Mostly I kept seldom-used serving pieces in there. It was (mostly) nice to have stools there for guests though. For a large group, if I used the peninsula for serving, the stools were in the way too...sigh!
