Yes, that is the granite sample. They had very poor counter selections. Here is another sample of the same granite. There is a lot of variance and they won’t allow me to pick out the slab myself.

If you love it then go for it but I find those tiles far too busy and dated. A basic subway shape would work, but in a very light cream. Since there’s no white in your cabinetry or counters, it would stand out too much.

IMO wait to choose backsplash until after counter install since there is no way of knowing what the counter will be. There is no way to choose until then and backsplash can be done anytime What are those other choices in the last pic?

Agree. Have everything else installed. Cancel this backsplash because I think you’ll end up finding something else. It’s busy and to me a bit dated and a lot of the same with those counters. Backsplash isn’t necessary to be done right now

I’m building and didn’t like any of the builder’s tile selections, so I declined them and received a $400 credit. Is that an option for you?

I am going to find out today what my options are for selecting no backsplash and see if that is even an option.

Whitney, if you cannot choose "no bs" then pay the change order...you will regret this choice, you are already doubting it.

First off, it's your home and you should choose what you like. That being said busy tile backsplashes do seem to be a thing of the past. If you plan on selling any time in the next 10 years I would recommend installing something simpler and more of a background than a feature. If this is your forever home go with what you love and make yourself happy :). Whatever your decision, good luck!

Get a credit from the builder, then once you have moved in bring home samples and see them with your kitchen cabinets, your lighting, your flooring. So then you will have saved $500.00 for the change order and will give you time to find the right tile.

Even then, you will bring tile home that you think will be right, but once in your surroundings it may not be so.

If you cannot select your granite and your tile that would be a no go for me. I would most definitely want to see the slab and pick out what I wanted in my house. Otherwise go with standard counters and no backsplash and have it done after you move in.

I am super concerned for you if those are your inspiration kitchens, bc none of your selections will even remotely look like your inspiration pics. Your selections are all warm-toned, and your inspirations are marble/quartz and definitely cool-toned. I think your granite really limits you. If you are stuck with it, definitely do a simpler bs.

fyi - Those pretty glass tiles in the mosaic are going to turn green-ish once they get installed. That happens to a lot of glass tiles once they are installed & grouted, and light can no longer pass through them.

It looks like a white, cream, or taupe colored subway tile might be what would work the best with your counter selection.
