For every trick there is to make a room seem taller, there is an opposite trick that other people swear by...vertical stripes or tall furniture trick the eye into thinking the ceiling is higher...low slung furniture tricks the eye because there is more wall space above the pieces. Unfortunately there isn’t one universal rule that applies, it’s really how YOUR EYE sees objects/designs in the space.

Personally, I would just make it attractive to me, forget about ceiling height, it is what it is. In my brain dark colors make corners disappear and tall furniture makes a room look taller.

Leave it alone... I agree with Donald, seen tall furniture to make the ceiling apear taller and it looks disproportionate and out of place. Seen stripes on the walls it looks like a circus or an oversized playpen for kids.

Paint ceiling white you can tone down the wall color and it will look fine.

Any horizontal line will only emphasize the low ceiling, so don’t do two wall treatments or paint colors. Paint the ceiling the same color as the walls.
