Thank you! The flooring is Rift & Quartered White Oak. It was custom milled and converted into engineered 12" planks for this project, which was a glue-down application. The finish is one we use for almost all of our projects: Bona NordicSeal with a Bona Traffic HD Extra Matte top coat. Super natural looking, eco-friendly, and durable. Just needs to be applied by a real pro - it can go wrong if done unevenly.

Would you kindly let me know how many coats of Nordic Seal (1 or 2) you used for this floor? I'm doing a renovation now and will be pulling the trigger in the next couple of days. Thank you!

Typically one coat will do the trick unless you want a more noticeably whitened look (we prefer a more natural look). It's very important to apply the sealer coat very evenly and per the manufacturer's instructions, maintaining a wet edge as you move across the floor. The wood absorbs the sealer very quickly, and if it's not even it will end up looking splotchy. Good luck!

Thank you you just made my day. I have been going between whether I wanted one or two coats of Nordic Seal. I just wondered if you have any issues with cloudiness using the matte Bona, and if not, is there a trick to applying it as well?

I think the cloudiness is more of an issue with the sealer. The finish coat is easier to apply though you still have to be very careful about doing it evenly and following the instructions. Definitely two coats for finish.

Thank you! You have set my mind at ease about using Extra Matte with one coat of Nordic Seal. Cheers.
