It's 2000 model-year per the model number (J in 8th position). Serial (different coding) indicates week and year of manufacture.

Common failures are the pump and motor coupler (equivalent to a belt).

Water inlet valve.

Lid switches sometimes break. Can be caused by old-age fatigue. Can also result from a grossly off-balance load that causes the tub to bounce upward and hit the switch under the top deck.

Motor start capacitor.

Neutral drain components inside the transmission wear and fail, which makes the machine go into spin immediately after wash and rinse instead of draining first. It's not a serious problem but isn't how the machine is intended to function. There's a repair kit for that, requires pulling and opening the transmission. It's messy but doable by a competent DIYer. Most servicers won't do it, they replace the transmission instead.

Wear/failure of the spin gear inside the transmission (the neutral drain repair kit includes that gear).

Spin clutch or spin brake.

Timer. Majority of mechanical parts are common among all direct-drive machines. Timers are more model-specific and tend to go unavailable sooner than mechanicals.
