The 1 1/4" would bother me. I like drapes to "brush" or "kiss" the floor. It seems the easier way would be to let out the hem on the ones you have. That being said, you'd have to hem them either way, so I might go for the 96" since a 4" or 5" hem can just look nicer to me.

This way will make it way easier to dust or vacuum!

Are you already using curtain rings - if not, the rings/clips could make up the difference.

If you are going to wash them, they will shrink. If you have them dry cleaned, they probably not shrink much. 1.5 inches above the floor would not bother me at all because their hems will not get dirty and dusty from swishing back and forth on the floor. Hems above the floor also don't bother the Roomba.

Are they a double hem? If so, yes let the hem out so they kiss the floor. If not, I’d recommend either rehemming and adding a hem tape to the inside edge to make a double hem. The extra weight helps them hang properly.

1. 1/4” is too short. Did you measure your actual drapes? I have seen complaints that PB drapes are not uniform so open and measure each individual piece. I prefer a deeper hem than 3 inches, but it is not a deal breaker. If you choose to purchase the longer drapes, opt for a double 4 inch hem (8 “ of fabric).

IMO we need to know what fabric before suggesting double hems and yes that is too short and is it possible to just lower the rod I think we need pictures .

You can add a facing to make the hem as deep as you want after it is let out. If it is not heavy enough, a chain can be added inside the hem to add weight for a better hang.

In the picture your drapes don't look too short, so if they were mine I'd probably be okay with that length (unless the picture is deceiving and it looks worse in real life).

ratherbesewing is correct that PB drapes are not consistent... I ordered 4 of the same panels you have (Belgian flax but in a different color) a year ago and just now got around to unboxing them only to find that one panel is 1.5" shorter than the other three. SO annoying because it's too late to return them. I may take them to the store to see if I could explain the problem and get a credit. I wish the inconsistent length weren't an issue, but I do like the quality so hopefully can find some matching panels. I've also had issues with Anthropologie drapes being inconsistent in length, but they're also pretty enough that I just deal with having to hem them to make them match.

I personally loath that sloppy drag the floor fad. Would much prefer them as is.

Another idea that might drop them as much as an inch more would be finding more elongated rings with which to hang your drapes from the rod.

If you have your drapes touch the floor and they're beside French doors, you're going to be dragging the drapes back and forth across the floor every time you open the door and end up with a ragged looking bottom. Aside from the sloppy look when they drag on the floor, wouldn't want them to drag the floor for that reason either.

This may sound very strange at first, but try ironing the drapes (not steaming them, but actually using the ironing board). The ironing process will actually make them longer by straightening and thus lengthening the creases - you may get an inch or so of length back.

I personally prefer my drapes a few,inches above the floor. It makes,sweeping, vacuuming and mopping so much easier. It is your preference. Remember when your drapes were supposed to puddle on the floor or they were ,considered hung wrong.

Tammy, after seeing your pictures, I think I would adjust your current drapes. As mentioned above, I would iron the drapes, but remove the stitching from the hem first! You don’t want to press in the current hem—it could leave a telltale line. If these drapes will be opened and closed frequently, I would want the hem a smidge (technical term) above the floor.

Please also clarify if you are using rings with a drapery hook or rings with clips.

It has been my experience that certain fabrics "grow" after being hung for a week or so. I think your length looks fine, but you may gain that needed 3/4 inch just from the weight of the hanging fabric.

Do you have pets? If so, drapes which hit the floor become a fur magnet.

I bought the same PB drapes for our lake house. Hemmed them all up the same amount and was annoyed to see them hanging at very different heights. Thought it was me!

I think they are okay but I agree they need to be ironed really well.

If the picture is an accurate reflection of what they look like in real life, I think they are good as is.

I have this in the natural color in a guest room. Ironing will add a bit of length, but as another posted mentioned they do stretch over time. Unless the length looks ridiculous in person I would iron them and be done.

I think the length is perfect! @eastautumn I have heard PB has been pretty lenient w/ their return policy due to COVID, so they may exchange them for you. Good luck!

Tammy, seeing your first photo makes them look okay to me. I would try the ironing suggestion. They'll mostly be seen as in your first photo vs lower and closer up in your second photo

I have these same drapes at 96" and yes, the linen does grow a bit with hanging. Also, my PB drapes have one panel out of eight that is slightly a differing color. I didn't notice it at first (in the return window) and now it drives me absolutely crazy.

No way to use these drapes! Return them! PB is not cheap drapes. Linen 100% is extremely shrinkable (some kind of 4%) fabric. Drapes would be even shorter after laundry. Get 96" length and before using wash or rinse them.

You have to be careful when letting out hems. Depending on the fabric the old hem line may never go away and will always look like they were lengthened.

Be careful as you iron any drapes, especially if you do not know what fabric they are -- make sure the fabric can take the heat. Iron them on the inside/back and keep the heat at medium -- will take longer but better than melting/burning them. Spritzing a water mist from a spray bottle on them might help remove any wrinkles. Be careful about ironing a ridge where the hem is sewn -- iron up to the hem and then iron atop the double fabric rather than ironing the hem itself in a way that makes it crease on the front. If the back tolerates the heat, then you could iron the double fabric below the hemline on the front as well.

these look good to my eye. maybe try steaming them.

If you have drapery hooks, you can adjust them so that the curtains will hang lower.

As far as laundering them, they specifically say "Dry Clean Only." You will ruin them if you wash them.
