Any Apple tree experts here?

Last year my 2 year old fruit trees flowered nicely and had nice apple buds after that, but since the summer was so hot and dry they seemed to 'shed' the fruits, and as a result I had no apples last year? I wrap the trunks with tree wrap and glue to help keep the bugs down, but was the heat the culprit? Thanks!

Where are you located? What kind of apples are they? When you say "wrap the trunks with tree wrap and glue", what do you mean? Are you able to properly irrigate the trees should this summer also be hot and dry?

FWIW, allowing a 2 y.o. tree to bear fruit is not a great idea anyway, as trees need some time in the ground to establish and develop a healthy root system before they can be allowed to start producing apples.

Sorry, my bad. In Orange County NY so zone 6. I have a few diff types but Gala and Fuji mainly. I use a tree wrap (like a think ace bandage) and tree glue applied to the wrap so the bugs get stuck to it - I don't remember the brand off the top of my head. These two trees will be "in my ground" 3 years since past December but they were decent sized when I got them from the nursery so maybe 5-6 years old by now? One is def a year or so younger than the other. Its a weekend place so I watered them when I was there and had the guy that cuts my lawn drench them maybe 2-3 times last summer when I wasn't able to and we had no rain. Hope that is better, thanks !!
