kitchen layout question
Comments (20)This layout does not work. The main items fridge, stove, cooktop and sinks are too far from each other not in a triangular arrangement and obstructed by cabinets. After a quick glance my suggestion is: Move the deck door to the left, Where the wallovens are now, create a tall wall with the ovens , fridge, pull out pantries. Iin the corner where the tall cabinets meet the lowers on the deck side put a magic corner cabinet as a lower and for the tall wall above the counter height an appliance garage with a roll up or vertical lift up door. Then turn the island 90 degrees to the left make it a bit longer an get rid of the peninsula cabinets that just block your ways. Now you have a few options where to put the sink ,dishwasher and cooktop. Sink , DW and waste sorter in the island and the cooktop on the right side of the window with a prep sink in front of the window might work well. Good luck...See MoreKitchen Layout...pantry question
Comments (15)Another quick observation, looks like your fridge opens into one of the entries into the kitchen, one that presumably will be used often to access pantry, laundry. It will get old quickly to have to wait for someone to finish at the fridge to access that doorway and hallway. Consider moving the fridge elsewhere, maybe switch with oven? Our original kitchen had a fridge open into the mudroom doorway and it created a horrible bottleneck, when we redesigned we moved it over about 36" and it completely improved the flow of the space. And another vote here for keeping the corner in the kitchen rather than the study. I have a corner cabinet with a lazy susan on the bottom and it really is nice storage - I sue it for pots and pans. Mine has no center pole which increases functionality, and is shaped like a pie with a piece cut out so the lower cabinet doesn't jut out. For the upper I just have an angled cabinet, no lazy susan, and I find it accessible and useful (this is where I store my plates etc), but if you don't want that you could leave the upper bare or open shelves might be nice....See MoreKitchen layout questions
Comments (25)I think you're on the right track. I typically prefer an island over a peninsula when possible, and I think it works better in this space so you don't crowd the dining area. I would definitely enlist the help of a kitchen designer. As professionals, it's our job to figure out the most functional use of the space for you. It is great to do your research ahead of time and get opinions on options, but one thing we can do is offer a different perspective! I often have clients that ask me to do a layout for them and are pleasantly surprised when I come up with an option for a layout that they've never thought of. This is what we are trained to do, and any good designer should be delighted to help you carve out this space. If that slider is actually a fixed window, it looks like you'd be able to slide that table down a little to gain more space in the kitchen area. I don't see that dimensioned in any of the plans above, but since you wouldn't have traffic passing behind it there wouldn't be a need for a ton of space. I actually love the idea of the refigerator to the left of the window. With the large bay window should let a lot of light into that side of the room, and then you won't have people passing through your workspace when they need to grab a drink. It would be easily accessible from the dining space. Have you considered a counter depth fridge to cut back on the size? Don't get me wrong, it works where you have it drawn in the plan, I just think there are some added benefits to moving it to the other wall. I think you have a great space to work with. It is nice and open, and with the right help I know you'll end up with a space you love!...See MoreNeed help with kitchen layout and question about master ??
Comments (5)Welcome alvarezmindy! We'd like to help, but we need quite a bit more information -- beginning with a fully-measured 2D layout of the spaces under consideration as well as a sketch of the entire floor the Kitchen is on (and the Master Bedroom is moving to). Please see the Kitchens Forum's Layout Help FAQ thread for a discussion of what we need to help you with your project: How Do I Ask For Layout Help & What Information Should I Include? https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5500789/faq-how-do-i-ask-for-layout-help-what-information-should-i-include...See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
