The picture makes it look closer to Christmas Tree than it actually is, although they will be a bit too close when they mature.

Some Lakesides don't grow well for me and others are just getting started, but I still have pics of half of mine. L. Banana Bay really glows in the light.

L. Dragonfly is one of the great growers.

L. Full Tide never missed a beat after splitting a full pot (I got 3 eyes in 2018).

L Keepsake had some crown rot last year but kept right on growing.

L Paisley Print is a slow grower but I wouldn't be without it.
May post the troublemakers later.

Mary was a prolific breeder to say the least. Beth you have a great collection of them.

Cha Cha & Dragonfly always stand out. Banana Bay, Black Satin & Ripples are also ones to look for.

I have not had much luck with Lakesides, except Lakeside Paisley Print. LS Cupcake, LS Coal Miner, and LS Prophecy Fulfilled have all grown quite poorly for me. They won't die, but they don't thrive. I keep hoping every year that they will leap/thrive. Here's to 2021.

Sunnywood and perenn.all have some great looking Lakesides! Mine aren't thriving I’m afraid...

L.Black Satin is very elegat but soooo slow grower as is L.Storm Watch - didn’t even bother to take photos of them last summer. Paisley Print I loved but it kept getting smaller and smaller and I lost it (- have to get a new one!)

Lakeside Dragonfly is buried under a japanese maple so I keep forgetting that it even exists but I dug it up in August and took a photo:

Lakeside Paisley Print, Prophecy and Prophecy Fulfilled do well for me. Shoremaster has declined since I got it 5 years ago. I've got others that are ok but not spectacular.

Laurie, that’s quite a Lakeside collection you have. I finally added two, hope they do well.

Lakedside Paisley Print was added last spring.

Lakeside Cupcake has been in the garden two seasons. I thought I had lost it from neglect and relocation. It bounced back last season, wish the photo was better.

I only have one, LS Paisley Print.

Didn’t like this location, it was burning. So moved to another spot, still not happy so I put in a pot in shade only for a month.

Started looking better so I planted it.

old_dirt >> yes if a streaker is going solid, i cut those eyes out, back to the crown. solids i usually toss. stabilized pieces i like, like a margin or medio i pot up and grow on to see if its worth keeping. the downside is you've set it back a year or two. in some cases i will sacrifice a streaker to get the seed from the remaining streaked eye, and keep the plants energy to produce seed. knowing i'll lose the streaking the following year, but gain progress with its progeny. it's a strategy.

i try to do all the maintenance early in its growth phase, before the heat, to reduce blight.

hosta have a growth phase and reproductive phase. have you noticed how they unfurl and leaves are pristine and large, then they shrink slightly before a scape appears. when they shrink they have entered the reproductive phase, the scape and flower and possibly seeds are coming.

What a big category Lakesides make up. I always like how Dragonfly looks. I lost Storm Watch in the yard somewhere and found it and moved it last spring. Just shows how many plants I have that I could lose one for years, think it died, and find it later on, lol! It's a survivor! Only a few leaves so no pic, but I'm hopeful it will thrive now.

I think I only have 4 different Lakesides but only photos of two of them.

Lakeside Love Affaire. I love this one. Here it is still looking good in August.

Here is my second one which is bigger. Unfortunately, the hosta beside it is even bigger! I wasn't sure whether I wanted to cut some of the leaves off of the larger hosta so that LPP could get more light. It actually seemed to be doing fine though.

Here it is on October 24. I finally did cut some leaves off the hosta towering over it.

L. Cupcake center melted out for me too. I potted it up my first winter and left it outside (apparently) for the dog to play with. I didn't bother trying to rescue it after that but I love the way it looks in the spring.

Paisley Print has such variety as it matures. Debra's looks like it might be streaking/sporting.

Thanks to Shadow, Little Tuft is moving up my list.

I bought a full pot of L. Spellbinder and divided it into a good chunk and several smaller pieces. Here it is the next year creeping along.

Some other 2nd year/small starts/slow growers for me.

L. Old Smokey may be my favorite. I had a great start but the Maple Tree roots and my delayed response left me in reclamation mode.

in 2017 - just slightly smaller than when I planted it the previous year.

2018 - would've been a good time to rescue it, but no.

2019 after digging, potting and later replanting. Every eye was separate so I replanted the 3 biggest ones and left the others in small pots.

2020 on the comeback trail, but not loving the frost.

Still looking for Breaking News (ordered but never delivered), Cindy Cee, Frosted Mint, Little Tuft (now), Reflecting Glass, Sir Logan (passed when I had the chance), Tropical Breeze.

Rob Canning (got all of the plants from Mary Chastain) used to sell plants on this website and then switched to Facebook, Has anyone bought plants from that website? I got some plants form him 5-6 years ago but then he had some health issues, moved and wasn't selling for a while.

Miles.........I bought a number of great plants from Rob Canning. Lakeside Paisley Print, LS Neat Petite, LS Black Mama, Stag's Leap, Warwick Comet among others. Terrific plants from Rob.

Steve- You are going to love L.little Tuff. It's a fast grower and so cute! I have 2 . They are very eye catching and draws you in to see what it is all about.

A few years ago I read somewhere- maybe here on forum- that the Lakeside hostas are recommended for warmer zones because they were created in a warmer zone.... does anyone know: is there any truth to that?
