Bedroom help-need an inviting look

Hello everyone, please help me with ideas to make this bed look inviting. Also, need help with rug & drape colors. Or should I just start over with comforter choice? Thank you.

Is this the master bedroom, guest room, etc?

    Amanda Smith-it’s the master.

The wall color is BM First Light.

If you like the comforter set, then keep it. You can work around it. You need other things to make the space inviting. I would add lamps to each of the end tables, a pretty white throw at the foot of the bed and some art above the headboard. Those things will make it feel more complete and welcoming.

Kiffkat, I thought about going with white or cream on the bed & then using color in the euro shams, throw & rug but just can’t seem to get it together. I’m ok with not using this comforter.

I personally love a white comforter. So classic and simple. Then you can pick any color for a throw and accents. Here’s some inspiration.

You also could use a bedskirt. Is that the box spring visible?

Kiffkat-I see what you mean-the white comforter with some color is beautiful.

Amanda, I would need to get a bedskirt-couldn’t decide what color though.

A few additions would make the room work.

If you really plan to start over, then get quality bedding that will last for years. I would suggest nice white cotton sheets with a high thread count. A down (or down alternative) comforter with a nice white duvet so its easy to wash. Then decide on an accent color for pillows, accessories, art, etc. Build on it slowly, it takes time. You can also simply keep your existing bedding as I mentioned earlier. So before proceeding, just decide if you want to start from scratch or keep what you have. After that, it’s easy!

Is the comforter solid color on the reverse side? If so, flip it over and fold back some of the design side.

SW , the back is white.

I like the idea of flipping it over. Can you try that?

    I would use a white bedskirt .

    Hi Kelkim,

The comforter has a very tropical look, and lots of colours to work with.

    My thoughts:

Try tucking into the bed frame so the ends don't stick out so stiffly. This tucked in look seems to be very popular now.

Fold comforter and sheets down at the top, so the sheets show, giving a layered feel.

Try putting the floral shams in between the white pillows, and have just one white pillow in the front center. None of these ideas will cost a penny, and may make it more inviting, ie. less formal.

Assume you will have table lamps for your night stands, would love to see a round decorative item that brings you joy above the bed.

I could see a sisal rug, and soft Roman shades, and if there is room, large leafed potted plants in the room.

If you don't love the comforter, go with your thought earlier to start over. It is the focal point of the room so you should feel great when you see it!

    Best wishes!

Summerspring, thank you for all your ideas! I think I’m going to try & work with it since it does have pretty colors. I’m not very creative in pulling a room together so I appreciate all the advice! Thank you!
