Brown cactus spots

Hi! I inherited this cactus from a friend and it came with some brown spots. Not sure if this is normal or if there are ways to make the spots go away and have a healthier cactus. Also not sure what type of cactus it is...

Euphorbia trigona, which is actually not a cactus. Those leaves are the giveaway. The sap is toxic, be careful when repotting and handling the plant. The brown spots look like natural corking which comes with age.

many plants are .. its not that big a deal .. once you have the knowledge to deal with it ... and now you do ...

dont put it in the babys crib.. dont put it in/or near the litter box ... and the pointy things ought to keep the dog away ... and dont try frying some up for guests.. and you ought to be all set .. lol ...

As Ken says, it's not a big deal. It only leaks sap if it's wounded. Just wear gloves if you're doing something that might damage the plant, or wash your hands after. I have a small one and I wear gloves to repot it because of the spikes. Please don't be afraid of it.
