5 years agoJack's Mischief was new last spring, but still produced some lovely blooms.
I am not sure that Jammin's Lipstick Kisses is hardy enough for our garden, but it was nice last season.
Jerry Hyatt has not done very well for us.
Jovial Ancestors is a vigorous plant with so so flowers.
Jungle Fury has nice flowers, but the plant is on the small side.
The flowers of Just Like Candy were very impressive last season.

Maryl that is quite the bloom on Jerry Murphy. Was it the only fused bloom?
Kay they are all lovely but I like Jellyroll Morton. Jellyfish Jealousy has very delicate colouring and I like it too.

5 years agoThese are the J's in my garden:
Jane Trimmer was new two years ago, but the grubs got to it, and it just bloomed last season. Scapes were short and I was surprised the petals didn't show any of the lavender color they're supposed to have.
Jeanne Deaver's Dream had better bud count than it's had in years. The blooms always open well here and seldom have any spotting.

Judy's Jewel is a pretty one. I moved it last year to see if it would increase better.
Julie Newmar was finally its registered height of 32 inches (all but one scape). In the past, it's been about 25 inches high. Now I know that's because grubs were eating on the roots for years.
Jungle Queen performs well for an evergreen.
Jurassic Pink was a gift that I used to hybridize with, but it's usually splotchy so it may not stay around too long. It is a very tall pink with very large blooms.

Joshua Slocum --shorter plant with blooms around 5". Good color.
Jackie Canner. Very rich color and has established well. 6.5 inches
Jerry Hyatt. Surprised that Hoosier Nan has had problems with this one. Takes a little while to establish, but quite vigorous.
Jellyroll Morton. Good height, color, vigor.
Just Like Candy. I would like better in a larger flower with better bud count.
Joe the Plumber. Excellent plant scape. Blooms ML in orchid shades
Jungle Jack Joiner has done well here.
Jane Trimmer has been off and on. Last couple of seasons has had renewed vigor, but yes, last year I don't remember any lavender shade in the base color.
Jim's Song is a reliable early-blooming red.
Jessica Lynn Bell last season had shorter scapes than before (though not in foliage). Not clear whether it is a one-season matter or whether it is beginning a decline that some evergreens go through.
Jan Zoo is a later bloomer with striking orange-red blooms.

I have had Jane Trimmer for many years. In my earlier pictures, it had more of a lavender base. Could be the weather, as I don't recall its having the light lavender base even in early morning this year. Of course, low light pictures will produce more blue purple. The lavender is very light in any case; certainly beige this past year.
Sometimes, evergreen cultivars will do well the first few years and then decline, usually not actually dying, but having sparse bloom and low scapes. Sometimes, the plant produces a lot of small fans. Your Lee's Loss may fit this situation, but perhaps late spring freezes affected things. In the case of Jane Trimmer, for a couple of years, it didn't perform well, but has picked up again. There are better cultivars in this color range for this area.
I think this older pic is more typical of Jane Trimmer. I have pics with even more lavender in years back, but they may have been taken in low light.
JT Davis is beautiful, but not a great northern plant here (too short and also can be inconsistent).
My Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is lovely, but has been on short scapes for two years.

J.T. Davis: Slow to increase but the blooms are outstanding.
JELLYFISH JEALOUSY: Awesome plant. The blooms appear to float in the air. Long bloom season for this one.
Janet Grebus Murphy: A nice edge no eye out of Beautiful Edgings.

Debra, just now trying to look at the pictures and read comments in the posts. I have never noticed Jane Trimmer having cream color. Mine is on the west side of my house, so is in the shade until after noon. Here is a pic from last summer.

5 years agoStill trying [not so successfully] to get caught up. Joe the Plumber & Jellyroll Morton are two that are real stand outs! Jellyroll especially has always caught my attention.
Jack Sprat. Has great color and is vigorous but has one issue: when disturbed [split or something] takes several years to get going again, even if I just work hard to take a piece off of one side and seem not to disturb the rest of it.
Joan Senior. Not sure why the camera brought out so much yellow in the throat, but still pretty.
