The electronics are not rated for exterior use. They can corrode when not kept in a climate controlled home. Just like a ceiling fan for covered porch use must be rated for exterior use. Zero warranty. High cost for a guaranteed fail.

Thanks. Good point. Guess I am stuck with a gas side burner. Hard to control temp and obtain simmer with gas, especially outside.

I think the portable unit approach is the best approach, but if money and annoyance are no object, then unit survival might be effected by installing a heater into the cabinet underneath or patched onto the unit's chassis such that it kept the unit's internal and skin temperature above the dew point for all environmental conditions. This heater would have to be turned off when the unit was running, and remembered to be turned back on afterwards. Electronic and sensor elaborations are conceivable, but beyond the pale for any but the most die-hard DIY gadgeteer.

Use wind guards for your outdoor gas burners, it should help a lot so long as you aren't facing the open side directly into the wind. A portable induction unit can work for when you want to use an induction burner outside- just remember to not leave it outside.

I bring mine outside when needed. I do not use it all the time and rhey are pretty light. I live in Florida and humidity and weather as a whole destroys everything.

It still looks brand new
