With all the horizontal stripes it looks like hickory. I'd be nervous working with that as it doesn't take stain evenly. You can get the color and feel if you use walnut instead.

Yes. I was thinking walnut would be beautiful. What type of stain would be similar? Or just an oil rubbed finish?

I'll let someone else chime in on that. It's usually something I experiment with on scrap pieces until I get the look I want.

I love walnut just left unstained to show the beauty of the wood. Good venting and a good finish is all you need to stand up in a bathroom
