Starting to remodel our master bedroom with board and batten and I am concerned about maintaining a consistent look integrating the boards with the door and window trims.

The Details:

We are putting 1/8" hardboard over our drywall and replacing all window and door trim. The trims are simple craftsman style that are the same depth as the batten boards.

One wall will be floor to ceiling B&B and I was going to put up the wall board first and then install the window and door trims. This way the batten boards will be flush with the trims when installed.

The opposite wall will be 1/3 B&B. This is were the problem arises since the wall board will only be on the bottom 1/3 of the wall. Do I install wall board just behind the door trims so that that the batten boards are flush or do I install the trims first and then the B&B and do a bevel on the batten boards where they meet the trim? Not sure I like the inconsistency that would create. Is there a standard way of dealing with this? Any insight would be helpful, thanks.
