Look for G & S Floors under 'professionals' on Houzz (top buzz bar). You will find their DOZENS of projects and photos. You will also find their activity. That's when you go into their posts...and find dozens and dozens of photos they have uploaded over the years.

I found their page but I'm unable to find a photo of red oak with only Bona Traffic finish.

Red oak is red. A natural finish will have peach and salmon tones as well as amber and wheat tones. Trying to manipulate red oak to be pale usually ends up with pink oak.

Change to white oak. Or accept the peach and salmon tones that you have.

@map And your floors dont look pink. Do you remember what they used to cut the pink?

I suspect maybe he water popped with some green tint to cut the red from turning to pink?

@map, did they water pop the floors first? I see little to no pink in there. How many coats of Nordic seal? Also did u use a satin Traffic finish?

@Michelle Pat he used the Nordic Seal.

@Jeff Koz he did not do a water pop. He used the Nordic seal...I’m not certain how many coats. We used the HD traffic for the finish sealer.

@map You wrote in a post: My floors are Appalachian red oak and Bona products was used. If I’m not mistaken they used a tannin bleed block to block out some of the red. I love them. Would love to know if you remember the name of that product and if it was used in addition to the products you mentioned. Thanks so much!

@Michelle Pat maybe this will help you understand. There are different Nordic Seal colors that you can use. We chose the white-ish color. Look at the container, see the different colors? The Traffic HD is a top coat to seal all of it.

Hi everyone! We are doing a full home renovation and have red oak floors on one floor of the house and white oak on the other floor. We are trying to get the floors to look as close in color as possible. I’ve seen a few threads and articles about using Bona Nordic Seal, Traffic HD Poly, and some mention using a country white stain (I think duraseal makes country white, and Bona just makes a “white”)- did any of you have the issue of two different woods and if so, did you do the same number of coats/combination of seals and stains on both floors? Or did you stain the red oak to dull the pink while leaving the white oak natural? We are going to sample some of the combos in the house to see before we decide but wanted to see what worked for others. Thank you!

Finished my red oak in natural seal and embraced the color variation. They are beautiful with a coat of High traffic on top of that. Adding white seals to red oak will create pink. Plenty of posts here that show that. Not everyone has the same types of red oak and the outcome depends on the age. Bleaching red oak may be an option but will ruin the color and grain IMHO
