What room is it in? How many steps until you get to flat? Unless you want to showcase an open space, wine cellar sounds good.

The room is under the kitchen but unfortunately I can’t really access it from the kitchen unless I totally reconfigured the kitchen by taking out the island .
The steps come in at an angle and are entered from the sunroom with about 8 steps ceiling height about 8 ft. I am moving the sun room so the entrance is going to be outside right by the kitchen

in west Texas we would call it a fraidy hole. That's where you go when you afraid of a tornado also known as a storm shelter. And most Texans use them more for storage.

I used to live in Amarillo when I was 5. we regularly had tornado drills at our school, which was basically the same as a bomb drill. the city even used an air raid siren, which was creepy AF. when a tornado actually did happen, we had to get up in the middle of the night and huddle in the hallway -- the safest place in our ranch house (totally not safe enough). I was so stressed out I pulled out a loose tooth that wasn't ready to go. I would have felt so much better if we had a 'fraidy hole! I was such a little kid and remember everything as clearly as it was yesterday.

Very cool! Make the island moveable? On wheels? Whatever you do, I I would want this accessible for tornadoes. Drinking wine while sitting out a tornado drill sounds somewhat appealing!

Hi! Season 2 Episode 13. Historic House gets Pretty Pink Overhaul. It’s really cool. It’s so awesome you have one too.

Someone was doing a restaurant remodeling, they ripped out the old floor and found a hidden stairway, the room down there was like a tunnel instead of the cistern, which turned around the corner and the ceiling was sloping down, so they made a floor seating at that location for small parties and where the ceilings were higher they put tables. I thought I had more pictures, but I found only 1, will see if I can find more and add them.

That is just so cool. I vote wine cellar.

Thank you thank you for the info on season 2 episode 13. Mine looks the same but it’s round and was a water storage tank . It’s right under the island . So cool ! I could do the same !!!
