Our contracts specifically address these items. The client is notified in writing and verbally, that the access points and any irrigation systems will be damaged and they are responsible for the the repairs. We can do the repairs, or they can bring in someone.

Your PB should have mentioned probable damage so that you didn't get that surprise.

I don't know if most include it. We are up front about this and will offer to make the repairs at an additional cost. Sometimes the client has a landscape company they work with, and they can make the repairs. Usually they have a go to irrigation company too.

That sounds normal to me. When we built our pool, we had our landscaper prepare for the pathway for the digger, which was just a small bobcat. It was just one fence panel, and was maybe $100 to replace... plants and sprinklers? Sounds like a pretty minor expense compared to a pool... And I would think you'd want your own people to repair/replace that stuff.

What about putting down for instance plywood sheets for them to drive on, instead of just leaving everything unprotected and subject to damage?

Plywood on a driveway is fine. On a lawn, the first pass with heavy equipment will destroy it.

A temporary road of large gravel is needed to create what some engineers call, a wheel blanket. It's common practice for us to make this temporary road.

The idea is to prevent as little dirt from the site being tracked to city's roads. Also, a stable entry for big trucks and heavy equipment. Sweeping the road is the last job at the end of the day.

Some towns will issue summons if the town's DPW have to clean the road.
