Need help with Floor choice

First “facelift” renovation I’ve done. Lessons learned for sure. I don’t want to get into my “regrets” in this thread. :-) Before and after pics below. Everything in the “after” pics is staying except the white tile floors. What do you suggest? I was thinking a concrete “look” porcelain tile
In light Gray in a 12x24; maybe a herringbone. Sorry for the light - counters are you not nearly as creamy as they look in the photos. Thanks in advance and please don’t lecture me on having a cohesive plan that the floors should have been a part of from the beginning. I know, I know.

I think a cement look tile wouldn't work well w/the wood flooring.

why don't you go over to Tilebar.com and get some samples of these? You get 5 for $5.

these are 24x24, which I think is a good size for your space. minimal grout lines. (and no to a herringbone. #1, it costs double for installation, and #2, the pattern will compete w/the subway pattern and your granite pattern. you need something sedate on the floor)

SJ and Beth - thank you so much! I will explore both of those options. (The wood and the tilebar samples) I did not consider changing the color of the grout. I didn’t know that was an option. The lessons keep coming. :—) I appreciate you both taking the time to respond.

My parents had a very similar before and after kitchen as you - they continued the wood into the kitchen and it looks great!

Thank you Jackie! I just got lost in the tilebar “see in your room” feature. Now looking for one where I can visualize the wood.

Found a wood visualizer! Pros and cons of hardwood in a kitchen?

Love the wood. I have wood in my kitchen and it's warm, easy to keep clean, wears well.

Tozmo1- any concerns about spills? I cook large lol :—)

Make sure you get the toughest finish for the floor. I paid a little extra for that and it's been worth it. I wish I could recall what it's called but any hardwood floor person will know.

If you can match the other wood you have, I think it would be a nice option. but please, no wood-look tile, or wood look vinyl next to the real stuff!

Looks like you have the standard red oak. what's nice, is if you get the stain on site option, any good flooring person can match the other color. Or, get whatever color stain you like and have the other portion sanded and stained to match. more expensive option though.

I redid my floors when I redid the kitchen and carried in french oak flooring throughout. I've spilled all sort of things on it and it cleans up perfectly fine.

But, I do have a runner below my busy work station areas. it's just easier to vacuum and spot clean.

time for a new rug, this one is pretty beat!

I had wood in my kitchen and the rest of the first floor. Everything was great until the dishwasher leaked and ruined the kitchen floor. I replaced with tile as the flooring had been discontinued. If you go the wood route, be sure to keep a box or so of flooring for unforeseen problems.

@Beth H. : Love the contrast of your black trim! Unexpected and wonderful. (That is what I was trying to go for in my darker backsplash.) I actually just ordered a ruggable brand rug for the area in front of the sink. I have the person who refinished my oak coming tomorrow to give me a quote on the floor. I am confident that I can match it. I am smiling because after reading through all of these threads, one of the things I learned was no wood tile or fake wood next to the real thing. Thank you for reinforcing that lesson!

@Pat Reddrick - thank you for taking the time to respond. A leak would be my fear! Good advice to have extra material just in case. Thanks!

Another vote for continuing the wood flooring. I’ve had wood floors in my kitchen forever! No issues - I do have a good rug on the floor by my sink cabinet. Your kitchen remodel looks nice!

Dmac - thank you for responding and another vote for the wood floors. The person who refinished my floors is coming today to get the details needed to give me an estimate. I
Wont make a decision until the tile
Samples come but I’m leaning towards wood. Thank you!!
