WOW way too over the top for me so probably not helping. What is is you love about this space ? That is what you need to start with. I do like the floors and they could work with a much simpler area but I need info from you.

I’m not a pro, but I would start by painting the trim White and your walls a color you love that goes with the granite. If you don’t like the ornate look of the wood, I think changing the columns would help.

I love the space, and the layout! The floors are absolutely beautiful and not represented well in this image. I do not like the paint colors on the walls or the trim color, but the trim is throughout the house and may be difficult to tackle right away.

Also, not in love with the ornate details or the columns...checking to see if they are load bearing

Yes... I’m currently switching from latte walls to a warm off white. Here were some suggestions from pros-and sw creamy. I would not go with antique white(the color of my kitchen cabinets). That’s the color I’m trying to tone down! Alabaster is perfect, but might be too stark in your room.

My current homes cabinets are Dover white! Love them. I like your thoughts on creamy... there is also some Venetian texturing on the walls

So I had dark columns in my house. We painted them white to match our trim so they didn’t stand out as much. I know you want to keep your natural wood trim, but I wonder if you paint them the same off white you choose for your walls, if they’d blend in more... just a thought. Again, I’m not a pro. I’m interested to hear what they suggest. Like bev said, it might make the details stand out more.

Paint the trim and walls the same color, a creamy white. The trim is ornate enough to stand out while bringing a more contemporary look with the monochrome color scheme. This photo is not "creamy" but you get the idea.

Yes, I love this! There is maple everywhere throughout the home, including the cabinets, shelves flanking the fireplace, etc. would you just do the trim and columns ?

I think you will be surprised by how much painting your walls will update the feel of your space. Painting all the trim throughout your home will be expensive and might not be necessary. I’m not a pro, but I would paint the walls and put my money in simplifying the columns or painting them the same color as your wall so they blend in. A pro might be able to tell you whether that would work or not. It seems like natural wood trim and white walls are making a comeback, so you might be in luck. That wood is gorgeous without paint.

I ended up painting the walls the lightest cream in the granite - Sherwyn Williams, Softer Tan - it matches well.

Now I need to tackle the furniture!!
