According to research done at Perdue University, leaving one (1) fruit on a small tree does not reduce the tree's growth.

It doesn't appear as if you have it in a very big pot. You might need to replant in much larger pot..... and fertilize.

You would be surprised what a small plant can hold. Leave the flowers and see what happens. Enjoy the smell of them at least.

It can probably hold one or two. What variety is it exactly? The smaller the fruit variety, the more they can sustain. That size plant could not sustain a pomelo fruit, but it would easily sustain a key lime. You might have to physically support the fruit so it doesn't break a branch.
