Apartment design/layout

last modified: 5 years ago

Hi, I am turning the end of my bungalow into a 1 bed apartment, that will be rented out. This is the current layout. I want to keep the walk in wardrobe, close it up and make accessible to bedroom 2. Ideally in the apartment, I would like the living area to the front as I spend a lot of my time at the back of my house gardening, relaxing. I want to use the master bedroom and bedroom 4. Master bedroom is the front of the house. Any help or ideas much appreciated. The Master + Bedroom 4+ bathroom is approx 40sq m total.

Hi thanks for the repy. I am in rural Ireland. Escape is to the back or side.. I am only converting 2 bedrooms into an apartment and using the existing ensuite as the apartment bathroom. I am just looking for advice on the best layout. Definitely not spending more than 10k on this ( kitchen, flooring, plumbing, some electrics). Apartment will be for one person. Rent would be 550/650 pm

Thank you very much - this is really helping me.

This is the full plan. The garden is 1 acre and I will be giving a small area for the apartment. The RHS of the proposed apartment has space for parking. Its a house in the country, detached.

Sorry if the quality isnt great, its the best I could do

The thing is, all the walls are concrete so any knocking of walls will mean an RSJ has to be put in, and they have a high cost

Not a problem, lessen the work,

Scheme 1: just fill in two wall openings and create the kitchen wall. Most work is supporting the opening at the kitchen and making the front door.

Scheme 2: even less wall work

Forgive me, but what is the dotted green line and the yellow box symbol on the other side of the walk in wardrobe?

what is the dotted green line and the yellow box symbol on the other side of the walk in wardrobe?

Refrigerator stuck in the little cove by the wardrobe thinking it may not fit with the other counter, dotted green line would be the soffit created if you have to support a portion of concrete wall or floor joists above when you put a hole in the existing wall.

Decorating your apartment can never be easy as it must be balanced and attractive at the same time. You must be very choosy about the products you plan to buy, as they must be spacious, stylish and worth your money.

For me personally, my design is completely satisfied. I remember how I was tormented until I found a good minimalist apartment checklist and how pleased I was with the result. These are simply indescribable sensations that everyone should feel.

It is not necessary to have a large apartment for it to look inviting and cozy. You just need to be creative enough to make small spaces shine when it comes to decorating your home.
