Why not do Corian at least it is tried and true.. I still go natural stone for really the best counter and has none of the drawbacks of any counter that inclused resins

Corian does not permanently stain.

I have used Cambria White Cliff quartz in two master bathrooms. It is a nice neutral solid white. Not the same use as a kitchen, but I've had no issues removing hair dye and make-up stains from this quartz.

We had white Corian kitchen counters in the first house we bought. No issues with stains. The counters were around 12 years old when we bought the house. There were some scratches near the sink area, but those could have been refinished. We sold the house after 4 years, so we never got around to doing any work to that kitchen.

@chispa, thank you. This has been a really interesting process, looking for white countertops. Like paint there are a million shades. I wish the quartz didn’t yellow because I found the perfect one. But too many people have told me it will yellow over time. I have a large picture window the full length of my kitchen on one side, which gets gorgeous light. I really need something that is uv impervious. And also impervious to heat, stains, scratches. Maybe I need to adjust my expectations!

Jules, even if quartz didn’t yellow over time, it wouldn’t fit your requirement to be impervious to heat.

Quartz contains 34% plastic resins by weight (not volume). Thus, high heat will scorch the plastic resins…even the lid off the top of a hot pan/pot/casserole dish laid on the counter, will leave a scorch mark.

I wanted the Corian, but the quote I received was significantly higher than the porcelain, which really surprised me. I ended up changing the GE Cafe range from white to SS. I’m at peace. Can I just say, phew, what a process. Thank you for everyone’s input.

darbuka You got those figures backwards. 34% resin by volume. Ground stone weighs more than resin. Any of the thin porceline materials experience edge chipping.

I received the Bedrosian warranty after providing my update yesterday. 10 year limited warranty. No bueno. Now I’m back to looking at Dekton.
