My wife and I are about to start finishing our basement. We want to have it setup for being able to watch tv/movies, and a bar area for entertaining.

To break up the space, we are thinking of having a riser that extends from the steps to the walkout patio door. Off the back of the riser, we are thinking of a half-wall/bar as well.

Given the amount of space, will the proportions work? The riser allows 42” of walkway space to the wall.

Any ideas, alternatives or general input are welcome.
