Door Framing Question

Hello, I wanted to remove a door in my apartment from one of my rooms and I removed the little wooden frames around the door and the 2x4‘s on the two walls that make meet side of the doors. do these 2x4s matter in the structure of the apartment ? Thanks

If it is a bearing wall those 2x4s are important. Probably won't fall down, but you could have cracks in drywall or something down the line.

Here is an image of a bearing wall door frame. Usually, when removing a door, you would just leave the framing there and fill in with studs. A bottom plate, 2 trimmer studs to allow a face to screw the drywall to on the edges, and studs in between following the wall's 16"o.c. spacing.

If it's not a bearing wall, same exact infill.
