Repaint kitchen cabinets

After five years I have to repaint my kitchen cabinets. I was thinking of making my island gray to match the table and stools. I plan i’m keeping the other cabinets white.

No keep it white
Yes Gray

That's going to be a lot of gray. You didn't say why you have to repaint? Problems with the current finish?

I agree that is a lot of grey and I do love grey! I suggest painting your island black, which would look great in your kitchen. Painting the island black would also look great with the already installed black dishwasher!

IMO 2 toned kitchens just for the sake of what you see in mgazines is not a good idea , I guess gray would be okay but IMO leave all the cabinets white and BTW if you painted them your self last time spend the money on a cabinet refinisher this time . I also would look at getting some color into the space I love gray but it needs color to really make it work so start with the seats of the stools in a fun print easy to DIY

Grays is dead. As are 2 tier islands. Why is a virtually new kitchen needing the cabinets redone? A pro grade finish should last you 20 years.

Well Celadon I did not get the memo that gray was dead as were 2 tier islands. I have my sink in my island and didn’t want anyone getting wet if I were washing dishes and they were sitting there. But now I know so thanks for enlightening me. We had custom cabinets done and the paint is chipping in some places due to wear and tear.

nice deep/slightly dark [as much as you dare] rich jewel tone green for the island. Use semi gloss maybe high gloss . Very nice...it'll go with everything you have.

Well, the memo has been out for a couple of years. Covid really punched it home. Gray is a depressing color to overload your home with and then have no escape from. There is no need for anymore grays in that space. It needs life and COLOR. What is your favorite color?

That chipping paint should be a warranty claim, unless it’s abuse from too much water or big impacts on an edge. Which would just require touch ups. Not a repaint. Unless it was TX custom no warranty.

I wouldn't. Your photo already looks like its been taken in black and white (although its very nice).

A gray that is darker than your floors.

Of the two options I’d stay white. Was going to suggest the same as herbflavor. Green would be beautiful. But the question really is what’s your favorite look? This is YOUR space. YOUR style. YOUR dream kitchen. What’s your favorite color? Look? Style?

I wouldn't do gray, but I don't think gray is depressing and your home is lovely and bright! I'd take this as an opportunity to add some color in there like a blue-green, check out SW Dutch Tile Blue.

You will then run into too much black due to accessories and table; therefore to break that up and add warmth, you could add a runner and large, complimentary art instead of your clock.
