Lovely home. I would paint the wall with curtains. It looks a bit washed out. Maybe a bold charcoal grayish blue or a dark charcoal gray.

You haven't stated exactly what you are unhappy with to help with advice. However, you should maybe look at Studio Mcgee for inspiration. She overly relies on white, but she has a great sense about infusing lightness while still feeling warm, natural and earthy. There is a Netflix series at the moment and she redid the stone on a fireplace wall to lighten it without changing the stones at all, just like a paint fix as an option. I know painting stone seems like a no-no but it could help. Or leave the stone and maybe paint between the beams a whitewash. Some updating of some furniture pieces to add more comfort. Every piece seems dark. Could also paint cabinet/reface or replace your countertops.

I would address the fireplace wall of stone that appears to be blue-ish green in the photo. I f you like that then gear other furnishings to compliment, not match, the stone. Many of your furnishings appear to be very traditional, maybe not mountain retreat. Keep researching, something will click.

I second modpod’s post. To me, all the wood (ceiling and beams) are too “on the nose”

absolutely, I totally get what you are saying. What do you think of painting the kitchen cabinetry something fun, getting rid of the gloss on the light wood and staining it a bit. Even painting the wood trim on windows same as walls so it disappears? and maybe even the baseboards.
