Everybodys roses looking amazing. I love looking at the flowers everywhere now but or roses here are the most special of all.

I was at the Huntington today and the magnolia trees were blooming better than i ever remember. The guys were bringing in big loads of mulch for the rose beds. Happy V day to you roses.... heres your yummy mulch. The earthy smell of mulch and sweet magnolia and sweet olive. Gardener happiness.

Librarian-gardner - what is that plant? Not familiar with it...

I went to Trader Joe's a couple -3? weeks ago and right at the front door they had these gorgeous Hellebores in pots! 10 bucks! 6" pots, 12" high plants - phenomenal! I got 3 - all different - I have a couple of kinds in the ground, but i might keep these in pots to put by my front door in prime real estate when they bloom next winter. They are very moody looking...

I don't have any roses blooming at the moment - pruning them all now - but the pictures you folks are showing are gorgeous! Happy Valentine's Day!

@BirdsLoveRosesSoCalCoast how cool to find those hellebores at Trader Joe's and at that price! There's a local nursery that specializes in hellebores. They sell to the public once a year and I've meant to go for a couple of years and have never made it. Their public sale is next week and I'm going! It will be interesting to see what they have.

The tiny pinkish flowers are andromeda. It's a shade and acid soil loving evergreen shrub. It's loyal and a lovely garden backdrop shrub all year. It shines in winter when most everything else is dormant.

Thanks Librarian - Andromeda - sounds lovely! Hmmm...acid loving is not the best in my area, but can be dealt with. Acidic soil mix in the planting hole and acidic fertilizer will work. i have a few treasured camelias that are quite old and doing well. I'll check it out.

Go get the Hellebores! I love them!
