If the washer is filling with water when the machine isn't even on, then you have a faulty solenoid valve.

If the door is leaking water while the washer is running, and there's a small puddle of water on the floor then it could be the boot (the rubber seal going around the whole opening).

Both are replaceable.

It’s not filling when it’s off but it randomly does leak while on pretty heavily and the inside of the door gets full of water.

We had that problem several times. Did you actually dissassemble and remove all the strainer pieces in the bottom, or did you just clean out the visible crud?

Are you referring to a space inside the structure of the door between the inner glass window and an outer decorate cover/lens?

Also, you should always cite the model number of an appliance when asking questions. Kenmore sells many different models sourced from various manufacturers (Sears itself doesn't manufacture anything). Details of construction/design can be found via looking up parts diagrams by model number.
