I never use a drying rack and as for hanging clothes a simple rack that folds up would be all I would need since i put laundry aways as I do it. My dryer does a great job of dtying deicate things and perma press items. I do have a wide cabinet above my W/D for laundry stuff and my iron too. IMy Laundry is in a clost type install with my linens in that space on shelves off to one side .I do like a counter to fold clothes and have one that is remoebale for repair if needed . IMO the new way to have a fancy laundry room makes no sense to me except for what I actully NEED. So if waht you need is what you posted then it should work. BTW I sort laundry every day as I do laundry every day I hate the idea of dirty clothes sitting around.
