Hi, we are getting a new roof for our MCM, which was badly damaged in the California wildfires in 2019; it is currently being rebuilt by the insurance company contractor. They are doing a good job, but have a penchant for economy --why they were able to take this project. Our house is, clearly, in a wildfire zone. Our contractor wants to create a modified bitumen, "torch-down" roof. In principle, we are okay with this, but I've learned that our course of construction insurance will not cover the house in case there is a fire that is created while the work is done. I also wonder if there is a more fire-resistant way to go than the bitumen. What do you suggest we do for the roof --keeping in mind, in California, we also have Title 24 to contend with, and therefore, must have a light color though not white (because our HOA prohibits that.) Thanks, I really need help in educating myself rather than leaving this in others' hands.
