kitchen sink orientation...help!

We are renovating the kitchen in our 1960s colonial home - yippee! This includes getting rid of an awkward powder room that is in the middle of our kitchen and opening the kitchen up to the adjacent family room. We want to preserve the doors, entryways and windows so somewhat limited in our configuration.

Our KD proposed a double island design, which I quite like. We are doing away with our eat in area and will be eating on the island for casual meals going forward (we have 2 teens so this works for us). I’ve included drawings of both options (please excuse the random squiggles).

My question is - would it be better to have the main sink on the side of the island closest to the fridge (easier access for prepping and facing the family room) or on the other side of the island (more convenient for clean up and closer to range)? Note that most of the prep tools will be stored in the non sink side of that island. I know there are pros and cons to each one but would be interested in some new thoughts as I’m spinning my wheels!

Thank you in advance!
