Scroll toe on base cabinets

Are there any cabinet professionals out there who can lend some advise as to which base cabinets (including the island) should have scroll toes? Sometimes I see them on every base cabinet, just the end cabinets or just the sink cabinet. So I'm not sure if there are any rules to follow.

Also, when it comes to the island, I rarely see them all the way around, but I like the look (example: https://www.houzz.com/hznb/photos/divine-kitchens-llc-traditional-kitchen-boston-phvw-vp~67011). Is there a rule regarding the size of the island and scroll toes?

I had them and loved them. They made the kitchen look so beautiful that it was worth me occasionally stubbing my toe!

They do make cleaning more difficult so are usually reserved for feature areas. I use them more In bathrooms then kitchens.

That could be my SIL’s island. Dirt was my first thought when I saw it. Didn’t take long to get chipped along the edges either. It looked bad within three years.

What cabinet line are you getting? The ones you have pictures in your link would only be available in a cabinet company that will gang cabinets together and modify the bottom rail of the cabinets to create that look .

The valanced toe kicks are nice and yes are a bit troublesome for cleaning. But similar to other kinds of furniture throughout the house.

I have them now on my island. Ugh. Can’t wait to get rid of them.

This is an update...I ended up installing scroll toes on a couple of cabinets including the cabinet under my kitchen sink. They have been installed for 1.5 years and I have yet to stub a toe. LOVE THEM!!
