Dated is anything. Waht is the rest of your decor like? I have to say I like it on stairs as a runner but not as actual carpeting anywhere else . I need to see your space.

I love herring bone.

Herring bone is CLASSIC and it can be very modern....or very traditional. It all depends on the house, the homeowner and the furnishings. The colour of the floor will also dictate whether it looks classic, modern, or traditional.

Carpet weave patterns, like herring bone or chevrons, come and go for trends...Like everything. Today, in neutrals (like beige + soft white) it looks fresh and up to date...in 10 years it will look a snick dated. But the weave is not the 'dated' part. It's the colour. And if you leave the carpet for another 30 years (ick) it will be 'back in fashion'.

Get what you love. Ignore trends. Know your style and work together with it.
