My most upright (and favorite of the moment) is 1st and Ten. I only bought it because it was a Doug Beilstein Hosta for sale at Green Hills Farm.

    My favorite category!

Shadow, I have Arc de Triomphe coming and already have Regal Splendor. How do you find they differ?

Arc de Triomphe has a wider leaf. The plant looks fuller,if that makes any sense. The margins are wider as well.

lol.....their your babies, you can always tell them apart.

Lol Paula liked them all but I really chuckled at "scare a moose". Glad to see we are back in 2020!

    2more:

new last spring, both of these suffered frost damage from that late frost many of us had, also as they were adapting to my yard they burned some so these photos are sad, :-(

    not sure about these two

This a second year pic of EF. Though it is small, the leaves seem very upright. No sure if it qualifies for this category

Well, even at the end of the second day, I must say that I don’t get the “scare a moose, scare a moowe” joke.....the only thing I can think of is an old TCM movie called “Scareamouche” with Stuart Granger. And even then, I don’t get the joke. Am I too young to get this one, or just, duh 🙄

Wow steve, you have such a collection and what a fantastic Sagae sport, no less. I must say I have quite a bit of envy, everyone’s hostas are so fully mature and huge. Mine are young and some only in their 2nd and 3rd year so I am waiting. Also, utog thank you for the explanation. I have always been a Motown girl, but I loved Bohemian Rhapsody, the movie and was surprised how well I knew their songs.

Thanks Debra, I see a lot of nice Hosta in your posts too. A lot of mine are on the young side too, but some of them have reached the 3 - 4 year mark. I'm hoping for a Hosta explosion this year as I added over 100 new ones in 2018 more than double what I had before.

Let's try this again, first time I tried it all disappeared when I pressed 'submit'..

I've been rather remiss at posting, primarily because I haven't spent a lot of time at the computer, but I'll add a couple to this thread. First I have 'Hands Up' which is in it's 4th year, and I just noticed today that's it's breaking ground already.

Next up is 'Queen of the Seas' which is a new acquisition for me and will have to be re-sited for better exposure.

Then there's 'Regal Splendor', it's been in the garden since 2012 and a reliable grower. It's been divided at least once and I notice last year some things that looked as if this plant was sporting.

Not terribly obvious in this shot but you may notice a leaf just off center with a considerably wider margin and the shoots at the edge of the pot have much narrower leaves, you'll see that better in the next shot.

This shot shows the narrower leaves and the shoot virtually dead center has a petiole with a margin, that's the leaf with the wider margin. So, there'll be 2 things I'll be keeping an eye on with this one when it's growing out this year. There were several shoots with narrow leaves and if those return I'll have a good sized division to take off and see next year if it is stable.

    Stay tuned!
