Need help choosing curtains

I got a bold geometric rug for my master bedroom and now I don’t know what to do about curtains. We already have a fabric valence/Roman shade on one window and I was planning to use the same fabric for matching curtains but it doesn’t seem to coordinate now that the rug is here. It seems like the styles just don’t match. Walls are a very subtle light gray. Should I just go for a solid curtain and Roman shade that match wall color?

PS: Ignore the bedding. Haven’t chosen duvet, bedding or art yet either.

I love the fabric, like the installation, you have more fabric for panels…return the rug.

It’s not anything special, lots of them around. You can do better.

Would you post a close up of the fabric?

I haven’t purchased the fabric yet for the drapes but I can (although my husband doesn’t actually like it). Returning the rug will be a huge hassle but I’m not actually loving that either. It’s got a purple hue (in some light) that I didn’t expect or want. Sigh...

The window treatment is the BEST, there's not much of the rug showing so get a white fur type rug and put it at the side of the bed and it will all blend.

Trying to understand why you had one window treatment made and don't have the fabric for the others? When you go to purchase more it may be a different dye lot or unavailable. I like the fabric and the treatment but it isn't really anything spectacular.

it looks like you lean toward a MCM asthetic as I look at your ceiling fixture and desk. to me, the rug feels off vs that feeling and has purple, like you mention, vs more grey like your shades. I might just go for a solid color in a rug, a light grey perhaps to coordinate with the shades. I really like the shades. heres a more textural solid rug. rug is a big piece for a room, so I would make sure its the one you love.

Thanks Theresa. I think you’re right that once I got the rug here it doesn’t really feel like it goes with my aesthetic so much. I really like the rug you suggested and going for texture over pattern might be the better way to go.
Jck910, the one remaining window treatment was left by the previous owners of my house but they took the matching curtains with them. I got the name of the fabric from them so I could have curtains made. The fabric is still available but I hadn’t thought about the issue of different dye lots.
I guess I have to figure out if I want to stick with the rug and just choose solid curtains or get the matching curtains made and get a new rug.

We think the fabric you have for the roman shade is great. We might recommend using that to make another one for the other window. Below is an idea for a rug that also might work.

No roman shades for a room that could use the visual height offered by full-height drapery panels.

You have a choice. Use the fabric and make draperies which will result in you replacing the rug, or keep the rug and find new fabric for drapery panels.
