Mine also make blooms close to the ground. I've not grown any from seed, however - I just bought the plants already started.

I guess it could be sprouting from a stem near the base, maybe? I mean, I've never seen it, but maybe it's just an oddball or a really heavily pruned plant that somebody horribly abused?

ETA: Gotcha, if it's a rooted cutting. I also grow from seed, so don't see this kind of activity.

I want to believe this photo, I really do. I understand the possibility of blooms coming from a stem low on the ground ... but in clusters? And buds on undeveloped wannabe limbs? Really? Every time I look at this photo I have a hard time believing this isn’t photoshopped. Kind of like the blue or rainbow Adeniums that we’ve seen that don’t exist ... LOL

Shrug. If they say so, I guess. :-) But since we grow from seed, we'll never see it. It's a battle up here in PA just to keep them alive to bloom!

Maria I have seen something like this but you could be right about photoshop it looks like 2 of the branches are coming out of the soil not the plant I think I would need to see more photos and from different views to be sure I’m not a fan of rooted cuttings and don’t do them so I cannot say for sure

Hi, Roger. You know, there’s something to be said about rooted cuttings. I ALWAYS root mine to share the bloom. They can be used to take scions for grafts and/or for hybridization of some interesting seeds. As you know, I’ve gotten some real beauties over the past few years. I keep only select singles. Most are triples and dobles. Certainly worth rooting for the blooms.

I added to my comment what I meant by ‘rainbow’. This gorgeous bloom is certainly not what I meant.

Pinterest photos has a lot of pure fakes in among the real plants If not faked totally,colors are heightened.

Beautiful, Roger. I have not gotten one purple flower yet. But I’m still trying. Last year I exclusively planted purples peaches, and yellows, mostly spectacular mixed KO hybrids. I expect some very interesting things this summer.
