While bringing in a designer at the outset it the best scenario, it is not to late to bring in a designer.

What do you mean by "it is just an empty room without being designed"? No right or wrong answer. Just wondering what your expectation are.

Were you looking for more details in the trim? Wondering what furniture to buy and how to place it? Decor?

Hiring an interior designer does not have to break the bank. As a matter of fact, the right one can save you in terms of not making bad decisions. Even if you hire for just a floor plan, you are ahead of the game.

Thanks for the feedback! For some additional detail, I've saved many pictures that show a style, look or feature that I'd like to have in my basement, but am not a designer so not sure of the best way to incorporate these things - would like to get some help and design inspiration. I had shared images with my architect and he wrote things on the plans to include certain things (ie reach out to a cabinet maker to build) but it doesn't say anything about how to execute.

Your contractor doesn't have any ideas on how to tweak the design to make it pop here and there?

Post a picture of the plan please and what contractor doesn't know how to execute? I mean it can't be that difficult if it's already on the drawing.
