Split level entry decorating help!

I am at a loss as to what to do to make this entry better for now. We are still going to be doing the landing and changing the doors but I am wanting to add some color somewhere for now... I was thinking of doing an accent wall on one of the walls... but it would be nice to also make some of the walls somewhat functional by maybe adding some shelves for books? any ideas would be great!
