Lake House interior HELP!!

First, I am new to Houzz so bear with me. I’ve been reading discussions and am very impressed with everyone’s opinion/detail/knowledge.
I am painting walls (need suggestions)Replacing cabinet doors to raised panel (about finished) I am painting cabinets and replacing cabinet hardware (welcome suggestions). The sofa and chairs I could part with. I do like my dining table. The blue marlin has to stay...it’s a memory of a fun family vacay. I took pictures last night it was dark and you cannot see my lake view. It’s a great view. I have pictures of my property from the lake side.
I have grandkids/toddlers so I have to keep that in mind. We are on a slope so this is the street level / top floor I’m redoing...therefore, the flooring may stay . Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, looks like a nice spot. You mentioned you are replacing the cabinet doors and painting. What colour are you planning for the cupboards? And will the pony wall backing onto the cabinets in the peninsula also be painted? If you want you could paint the plywood white and leave the top of that pony wall and the baseboard the natural wood colour. See my comments below about window trim. I'd do all of it the same, either wood or white. You can leave your fireplace mantel in wood.

Would you consider adding something to the fireplace, maybe some slate tiles etc, to create a little bit more interest on that wall. Right now the star of the show is that TV above the fireplace. If you beef up the fireplace a bit more, that would be a nicer focal point.

I note that your living room windows don't have trim except for a sill. How would you feel about adding trim around the windows and painting the trim white? If you want to keep the wood tone for the windows and the baseboards, that's fine too, but I feel like those windows would benefit from some trim.

For a wall colour, one of my favourites is BM Grey Wisp. This is a beautiful colour that can read green or grey and looks fabulous with wood tones as well as whites. Easy to live with and will coordinate with your living room furniture which looks like brown leather to me.

If that feels too much for you, another nice green/grey that is more subtle is BM Green Tint.

Very subtle colour that often reads grey but can read green depending on the light in your room and furniture etc.

If you go with white trim, my favourite is BM Chantilly Lace and that could also be a consideration for your cupboards if you are considering white.

In my opinion Chantilly Lace is pretty much a pure white, not yellow or creamy at all.

Cabinet hardware - I guess it depends on the paint colour you choose for the cabinets. If you go with white, you could consider Oil Rubbed Bronze (almost black) or a brushed pewter would also go nicely. I note your kitchen faucet is black or ORB - so you could go in that direction with your pulls and it would look good.

Are you in love with your zebra stripe decor? I think you might consider a new rug and cushions that will work with your paint colour choice.

    What do you think?

Whoops I missed adding a picture for a suggestion for the fireplace.

This one goes right to the ceiling which you could do if that appeals to you. Or you could apply the tile below your current mantel only

Either way the TV can stay where it is but wouldn't be so noticeable as it is currently.

I think this is just black slate tile - looks like Montauk slate. If you can find it in a brushed finish, that is my preference for slate.

In addition to the items you mentioned, I would first get a longer cord so your tv equipment can be placed under the window on the side of the sofa so it's out of view. Update your ceiling fans to nice light fixtures, and add a rug in front of your sink and dishwasher area. If you leave the cabinets stained, I like a warm white for the walls. If you're painting the cabinets white, I like the idea of a very soft green like BM green tint, suggested above.
